Board of Directors
The Lethbridge Symphony Association is administered by a volunteer Board of Directors. There are vacancies on the Board at the moment and we are currently looking for new members. If you would like to speak to a member of the nominating committee about the requirements, please contact Dawn at the Symphony office (403.328.6808).
Please find below what the expectations of this position are.
Board Members
- Term of Office: three (3) years with an availability of 2 consecutive terms for a maximum of six (6) years
- Attend monthly Board meetings* (September through June) – traditionally held Wednesdays, 2 hr. maximum.
Commitment to LSA
- Hold at least one annual subscription to one or more LSA series of concerts (Masters Series or Chamber Series)
- Assist in annual fund-raising activities by participating in any one or more of the following:
- Make a personal substantial contribution
- Purchase two (2) tickets to the major fundraiser, i.e. Love Notes
- Solicit patron contributions
- Solicit corporate sponsorships
- Serve on LSA Boards special events committee(s)
Requirements
- Act as an ambassador/advocate for the LSA
- Attend the Annual Board Retreat (usually held in the fall)
- Attend the Annual General Meeting (held near the end of August)
- Serve on at least one committee of the Board (meetings traditionally held once a month)

Specific skills of an effective Board member include
- Interest in the presentation to the community of music appropriate to the LSA Mission statement
- Tact and ability to work with others
- Time and willingness to serve on the Board and at least one committee
- Skills and knowledge to support the Board/Management process
Note: *According to LSA By-Laws, a Director’s position is automatically terminated if three (3) consecutive Board meetings are missed.
Following your election to the LSA Board of Directors you will receive an in-service where further information will be made available. You will be provided with the LSA Mission Statement and a brief history of the association.
