Margaret Mezei

Margaret Mezei is on faculty at the University of Lethbridge, Department of Music, where she teaches clarinet, saxophone and music appreciation. She is also the Director of the Conservatory of Music, a position she has held since 1989.

A native of Southern Alberta, Ms. Mezei earned a Bachelor of Music degree in clarinet performance from Washington State University and a Master of Music (magna cum laude) in Clarinet Performance and Pedagogy from Michigan State University where she studied with Dr. Elsa Ludwig-Verdehr.

She has been a recipient of Canada Council Arts Awards, performance scholarships, and was named Pi Kappa Lambda by the American National Music Honors Society. Ms. Mezei is active as a clarinetist, clinician, examiner and adjudicator. She has appeared several times as soloist with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra and Musaeus. In addition, she performs regularly as an orchestral and chamber player, and frequently presents solo recitals.

Margaret Mezei plays Buffet clarinets and is a featured artist for Boosey and Hawkes musical instruments.
