Michael Bridge made his solo orchestral debut with the Boston Pops at 17 and performs classical, contemporary, folk, jazz, rock and pop music on acoustic accordion, digital accordion, and piano. He has performed in China, Ecuador, Croatia, Italy, France, the UK, and across the US and Canada.
Winner of the Canadian Digital Accordion Championships, University of Toronto Concerto Competition, and Stampede Talent Search, Bridge is a graduate student in classical accordion performance at the University of Toronto, studying with Joseph Macerollo. Former teachers include Beverley Fess (accordion), Donna Holoboff (piano), Timothy Janz and Robert Rosen (theory, history and composition).
Michael has performed with numerous ensembles including Quartetto Gelato, Boston Pops Orchestra, Ontario Philharmonic Orchestra, Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra, University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Euphonia Chamber Orchestra, Fawn Opera, TEDx Talks, Chopin Society of Canada, Royal Conservatory of Music Contemporary Music Ensemble, Ladom Ensemble, The Collective, Crystal Plamondon, Lizzy Hoyt, and Ivana Santilli. He is a founding member of SoundLords with Kornel Wolak (clarinet), a dynamic and technologically advanced show that has toured three continents and includes everything from baroque to rock.
Bridge has adjudicated competitions in the US and Canada and given masterclasses across North America. Over the past decade, he has produced ten albums (including two albums of his own compositions), and was featured on Grammy-nominee Alex Meixner’s album Happiness Is a Choice.
