| Arrangements are in place for the Symphony Women’s League 14th Annual Valentine Cup & Saucer Tea - now an "Extravaganza"! It is being held on Saturday, February 13th, from 2 to 4 p.m. The event has proved highly popular and once again is being held in the spacious McKillop United Church Hall, 2329 - 15th Ave. South. "This is certainly not an ordinary tea!" states Rose Primachuk, President and Special Events Coordinator for the Women’s League and Lethbridge Symphony Association Board member. We "conscript" the gentlemen from the Orchestra, Symphony Board and special guests from the Community to serve, dressed in their tuxedos. Mayor Bob Tarleck will lead the elegantly garbed servers - he has become quite adept at handling a cup of tea! We provide background music of high calibre - we have two orchestras - The University of Lethbridge Conservatory Strings directed by Tido Janssen, and The Chinook Community Orchestra directed by Robert George, entertaining all afternoon. What more can you ask for? An Extravaganza indeed! As the name implies, there will be an array of fine bone china cups and saucers and other articles for sale, door prizes and baked "goodies". This is the 14th year ths successful event has taken place and is a fund raiser for the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra, in keeping with the League’s mandate - "to support financially and in any other way possible, the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra". The event has proved highly popular. A "special" this year is the sale of the Symphony League’s Cook Book - "A Rhapsody of Recipes", launched in December, which is a delightful compilation of favourite recipes of the Symphony Women’s League and the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra members. We are so pleased with the results of our efforts. Tickets for the event at $10.00 each are available at NoteAable Music, 323 - 8 St. S. (403-380-2130) and McKillop United Church Office (403-328-2703). Remember, men are certainly welcome - bring your sweetheart! After all, this IS a Valentine Tea! By the way- if anyone wishes to donate any china items, contact Rose at 327-6221. Donations of baked goods will be accpeted at McKillop United Church on Friday February 12 |
