AIRDRIE Ignas
Co-Concertmaster
Airdrie Ignas grew up in British Columbia, and started violin lessons at age 3. That was the beginning of a what has been a life long journey filled with beautiful music, wonderful people and exciting places all around the globe. Little did Airdrie know when she scratched out her first Twinkle Twinkle that she would one day be playing her violin in places as far off as Japan or for audiences of thousands, with her music being the key that opened countless doors of opportunity. Along the way she picked up a Bachelor’s of Music degree from UBC, studying with Andy Dawes, and a Master’s of Music degree from the University of Lethbridge, where upon graduation she was awarded the academic gold medal for Graduate studies.
For the last 15 years Airdrie has had the pleasure of calling Lethbridge home, building a career filled to the brim with performing and teaching. Knowing how much the violin has given her, it has been a truly special thing for Airdrie to help her students’ set off on their own musical journeys. She is beyond thrilled to be adding the duties of concertmaster to her current job description at the Lethbridge Symphony and excited about the season ahead!
