TIMOTHY JANZEN

Bassoon & Contrabassoon

Timothy Janzen grew up on a small family farm east of Coaldale. He started the bassoon in grade 7 and quickly joined Robert George’s bassoon studio. He continued to study bassoon with Bob George throughout high school and at 16 years old, performed with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra for the first time. In 2001, he was given the role of 2nd Bassoon and has enjoyed sitting beside his instructor and mentor for over 21 years. In recent years, Tim has enjoyed many opportunities to play the contrabassoon. He has served as the Orchestra Musician’s representative to the Board of Directors for over a decade.

Tim has a Graduate Degree in Biochemistry and has spent the previous 12 years working for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency filling many roles in Diagnostic and Research environments for Food Protection and Animal Diseases. Tim is married to Corrine and has 2 lovely young children Leonard & Gideon.
